Dr Arama Rata
Dr Arama Rata (Taranaki, Ngāruahine, Ngāti Maniapoto) is a Māori researcher, writer, and organiser whose work centres on Indigenous solidarities and Internationalism; anti-colonial methodologies; and liberatory pedagogies. She currently leads research projects with WERO (Working to End Racial Oppression); Tū Tama Wāhine (a Māori community empowerment organisation); and RIRI (Research to Interrupt Racism and (In)Equities). Her advocacy spans roles as co-founder of Kaiāwhina Tāmaki (a protest safety and community care group), co-founder of Te One Kakara (Taranaki Māori Research Network), and steering group member of progressive foreign policy group Te Kuaka.
