Kristin O'Connell is an antipoverty activist and unwaged social policy researcher relying on the Disability Support Pension.
She established the Antipoverty Centre in 2021 with other welfare recipients to counter problems with politicians, academics, paid advocates and others in the political class speaking over and making harmful decisions on behalf of people they purport to represent.
Kristin has been involved in advocacy on the federal government’s housing fund proposal and was a member of the organising group behind the recent successful occupation of public housing slated for demolition in Gadi/Sydney.
