Kurdish-Iranian activist and author Behrouz Boochani spent more than six years imprisoned on Manus Island.
Peter Dutton proclaimed that Boochani would never set foot in Australia. Today Behrouz is a free person who continues to speak out against the abuse of offshore detention and refugees at the hands of inhumane government policy. His own experiences have been reflected upon in his written work including No Friend but the Mountains and Freedom, Only Freedom.
Behrouz will be joining the conference by videolink (link to livestream).
Green Left’s Alex Bainbridge interviewed Behrouz about his latest book Freedom, Only Freedom, a collection of his writings along with essays from experts on migration, refugee rights, politics and literature. Watch the interview or read the transcript.
