Relevance of Marxism for the 21st Century

Peter Boyle, author of Introduction to Marxism (Resistance Books 2019) and a member of the national executive of the Socialist Alliance, makes a case for why activists campaigning for system change today should study the ideas of Karl Marx. The ideas Marx developed — together with his lifelong collaborator Frederick Engels — can help us understand the dynamics of the social system we are still forced to live under today and want to be liberated from: capitalism. This session will also workshop some of the new readings of Marx that John Bellamy Foster and Kohei Saito relate to the climate emergency we now confront.
